These gynocritics raise voice for those silenced for so long by the grand narrative of a humane and humanizing literary tradition. They define a different critical criterion of a woman centered revisionism that takes woman seriously; which does not make woman disappear into androgyny or masculinity. Thus these makers of an alternative but coexisting female tradition argue to expand the canon to include rather more than “two and a half women” (Eagleton 1996 28). Now the question is whether Bloom’s poetics of influence and his defense of the canon is anti-feminist or does it have some claim of impartial judgment?
